Finding New Buildings in the Dust of the Old

With the continued and growing emphasis on sustainability in construction, we could be on the verge of a radical shift in how we think about the current stock of buildings. The time may be coming when we stop planning for building replacement, and instead plan for building reuse. That in turn would significantly change the roles of designers, builders and structure removal specialists, like Midwest Wrecking.

When we started in business, over six decades ago, our role was often easily defined. We were a vital part of Chicago’s post-war new construction boom. We helped make way for the area’s unprecedented expansion. However, over the years and particularly during the last ten, we’ve evolved with the ever changing landscape of the construction business.

We’ve become specialists in surgical demolition, allowing for existing structures to remain and facilitating the renovation process. We’ve worked on some of Chicago’s most iconic buildings (Hotel InterContinental, St. Anne’s Church) and have succeeded in preserving the rich history of these landmarks.  We just don’t knock down buildings, when we do surgical work, we help keep these great buildings alive.

-Dan Lempa, Midwest Wrecking President

You can be sure that when Midwest Wrecking is entrusted with your surgical demolition project, we’ll succeed in preserving the rich history and integrity of original structure. Chicago is widely considered as one of the world’s finest architectural showpiece and we’re going to make sure it stays that way.
